Windows 7 - What Vista should have been!

We have been testing Windows 7 for some time now and it is definitely a stable operating system. The OS just works.

Some of the new features like XP Mode make sure that your older apps will continue to work without adding complexity to the system, your programs will show up in the Windows 7 Start menu but they will be running in XP mode.

The new RDP client allows for the system to take advantage of the new features in Windows 2008 R2 server like multiple monitors, up to 10! Remote apps is another great feature where you can publish applications on users desktops without actually installing it on their computer.

Windows 7 is ready to meet your business needs, are you ready for Windows 7?

Windows 7 - Installed and working.

Well I got Windows 7 installed on a 2 year old laptop with 1GB of memory and on inside a Virtual Machine.
Both installations went very smooth with no issues.  Both machines patched and installed Office 2007 perfectly.

Windows 7 looks and acts a lot like Vista but it is not as sluggish.  The Windows screens adn menus are laid out just as they were in Vista.  So users who have already been using Vista will have no issues moving to Windows 7.

So far I like the experience of using Windows 7 I have not joined it to the Domain yet and started installing printers and applications.  This will be the real test to see if the new OS will work in a business environment.

Stay tuned for more on Windows 7!
